Here is one of our recent experiences in this new tasty place we went in Antigua Guatemala, called Metiz.

After a hot and very busy long morning, we were kindly invited by Metiz to try out their specialities for lunch, and we were very happy to do so!

Metiz is a  delightful spot that musn't be missed, specially  for those who love to try authentic and genuine food, all cooked by a magnificent French chef! Not only do you enjoy some typical Pâtés, original french cheeses, and cold cuts, but you can also delight in a wide choice of bakeries and pastries, all made by them.

Our experience in this charming place was unbelievable. We savored a wide variety of different dishes from appetizers, to carpaccio, from fresh made bread sticks to mini quiche. Every dish was amazing!

The chef offered us a delicious Manchero with Jamon Serrano, a mini-caprese with buffalo mozzarella, followed by an exquisite carpaccio made with a Serra Negra ham. He then presented a rillete made out of duck and pork meat, which I must say, was my favourite....I couldn't stop eating it! It melt in my mouth, and every bite was soo exquisite.

After this rillette experience, he then brought us small canapès filled with goat cheese and a red pepper sweet sauce, and finally mini quiche with smoked pork and Emmental cheese .

Of course, the chef couldn't miss out on the desserts! A luscious chocolate mousse accompanied by a mixture of fresh toasted nuts and  a panna cotta covered with a lemon and passion fruit cream, both complemented with two enticing home made sauces: a strawberry and blueberry jam and a vanilla sauce.

I would highly recommend it, for it turns a casual fast-paced lunch to a relaxed enjoyable outing.   The menu itself is very alluring, proposing so many different types of sandwiches and plates!  It sure is a wonderful place to try out when you visit Antigua!
