WHAT EXACTLY SHOULD I PAY FOR WHEN HOSTING A DESTINATION WEDDING?
" Regular" wedding etiquette usually requires attendants to pay for their own clothing, accessories, hair and make up, travel, lodging, and gifts. However, since destination weddings are on a much smaller scale, you may choose to help out. Remember that what you choose to do for one person, you must do for all. You could consider the following:
- Negotiate group discounts on airfare, lodging and transportation. If you choose to have a wedding web page, make sure you publish these prices to make them available for your guest.
- Rent a couple of large houses and offer them up for your guests to stay in.
- Ask your guests not to give you a gift and make sure you let them know that their presence was the best gift they could have given!
- Organize as many "activities" as you can, so that your guests are always taken care of, even when you decide to take some "alone-time" with your spouse.
